Aug 16 2010 - Coach Coffin Update

Great summer of track everyone!!

We finished up our season this past weekend in PEI with the Atlantic Championships. To say that we have a great team is an understatement:) The results have not been posted yet but I'm sure they will confirm that we have the top club in the Atlantic provinces!! The most important thing though was that everyone had fun challenging themselves:)

Bill and I will announce cross country training schedules soon. It should be a very exciting fall. A great run to pump up the kids will be the Race Against the Reds 5K on September 4 in Fredericton. This will be extra special this year as we are very lucky to have the UNB Cross Country/Track Team this year. This is a great chance to meet some of the runners who will be competing from BOTH campuses this year! Hopefully we have some future UNBers from the Saint John Track Club:)

To celebrate our results this year, we will again have an awards banquet. Stay tuned for the details as we confirm them.

Aug 8 2010 - 2010 Legion Youth Championsips - PB's and Medals

SJTC Athletes are having a strong showing at this years Legion Youth Champs.

All the SJTC group have gotten PB's in their events plus we are bringing home some medals.

Day 1

Nick MacMackin - Bronze in the 1200 M with a PB of 3.12.52 (a new provincial record)

Katie Robinson - PB in the 1200m with a time of 4.05.43

Ben Fowler – PB in the javelin of 38.39 - 6th place

Alex Peabody – PB in the 100m with 11.35 and made the B final

Day 2

Matt McNeil - Huge PB in the 3000 - 8.46.88 – 6th place
Katie Robinson - PB in the 2000 - 7.14.90
Nick MacMackin - Bronze in the Medley relay - Team now has New Provincial Record

Day 3

Matt McNeil - PB in the 2000m Steeplechase

Nick MacMackin - Silver in the 800m - 1.59.23 - New Provincial record & PB

Ben Fowler - 6th in the high Jump - 1.70m - PB

Aug 7 2010 - Hershey North American Final

  Congrats to the SJTC athletes at Hershey Sarah Kean - 3rd in the 800m in 2.29.56 ( a PB of 7 secs)
Josh Shanks - 7th in the 1600 in 4.45.51 ( a PB by almost 15 secs)
Pierre Dumouchel - 5th in the 800m in 2.13.18
