Jun 30 2010 - Jeux de L'acadie - Acadian Games - Saint John This weekend a number of our SJTC athletes will be competing in the Games at the track and field competition. It is being held at the Canada Games Stadium. This is an exciting event for the City of Saint John so we encourage our members to attend and watch the action. For a schedule of track and field events go to: Schedule For a more information on the games got to the web site Jun 29 2010 - Canadian Junior Champs - Moncton 2010 This weekend (July 2-4) in Moncton will be the Canadian Juniors which is also the selection meet for the Canadian team at worlds. Competing from SJTC will be the following... Caleb Jones - Javelin - Friday & Saturday Mitch Quigg - Javelin - Friday & Saturday Matt McNeill - 1500m - Friday Tom Butler - 800m - Saturday Alex Peabody - 100m - Friday This will be the first event held in the new Moncton Stadium. Results from the last week: SJTC athletes have been busy across the province and the country.
Edmonton International Track Classic– Caleb Jones threw a personal best of 69.68m to come 2nd at this high caliber meet in western Canada. This throw puts Caleb at the top of the Canadian Junior Rankings.
National Multi Events Team Qualifier– Mitch Quigg competed in Toronto at this exciting event where the members of the team for this year’s world juniors were selected. Mitch had some outstanding performances with 5 personal bests on day 2. He placed 6th overall and was the top Atlantic Canadian with 5683 points.
NB Middle School Champs– 25 SJTC athletes battle high winds to compete at this annual event. Congratulations to the following people for coming top 3 in their events.

Catch the Bug Road Race– Congratulations to Coach Alex Coffin for his outstanding win in this local 10km in a time of 33.15. One of our top youth athletes, Matt McNeil had an outstanding result with a fast time of 34.34 in his first race over this distance. Dean Strowbridge and Andrew Vail also had strong performances on what is known to be a challenging course. In the 5 km distance club members, Dallas Casey, Victoria Leblanc and Cole Healey also competed. Jun 19 2010 - Hershey Provincial Champs Provincial Hershey Track Meet Gets Record Attendance Over 370 youth from across New Brunswick competed in the June 19th Hershey Provincial Final in Oromocto. The meet organized by Athletics NB had record attendance and featured exciting races in all age groups. Saint Johnarea athletes faired well with the following athletes getting first place finishes in their events. In total, 25 Greater Saint John athletes placed in the top six allowing them to advance to the Hershey Atlantic Final in July. Laura Duffley, Cole Healey, Isaac Clark and Sarah Kean each won two events at the meet. Saint John area athletes winning their events were: Laura Duffley – 1st place 50m & 100m (9-10 girls) Ashley Cormier – 1st place Softball Throw – (9-10 girls) Cole Healey – 1st place 200m, 400m (9-10 boys) Isaac Clark – 1st place 100m & 200m (11-12 boys) Sarah Kean – 1st place 200m & 800m (11-12 girls) Josh Shanks – 1st place 1600m (13-14 boys) Pierre Dumouchel – 1st place 800m (13-14 boys) Jun 17 2010 - Coach Coffin's Weekly Update
Hi everyone, Jun 11 2010 - Saint John Local Hershey Meet Hello everyone Congratulations to everyone who competed last night at the local Hershey Meet. Please note that the results have also been posted to the ANB web site. RESULTS Any athlete who came top 5 in an event last night can advance to the provincial champs on June 19th in Oromocto. PLEASE NOTE: that any athletes from our meet who are younger than 9 (born 2001) can not compete at provincials even though we let them do so in our local meet. We encourage all our athletes to attend thius event as it is a large and exciting track meet, plus every participant receives a free Hershey T shirt. Saint John Track does incredible at HIgh School Provincials
In VERY wet conditions, over 400 athletes competed at the 2010 NBIAA Track and Field Championships. Unfortunately, some events had to be canceled due to safety reasons.
Despite the bad weather many athletes achieved personal best and some even broke NBIAA records. -With a toss of 40.89 Lindsay Gauvin (ESN) establishes a new record in the senior girls Javelin. She also finished 2ndin the senior girls 200m. -With a run of 49.04 Adam Gaudes (FHS) broke his own senior boys 400m record.
Other notable results include : -Sarah Taplin (MHS) won the junior girls long jump and the 100m dash. -Amy Lynn Grant (ESN) was 1stin the junior girls 200m dash and 2ndin the 100m -Kate Robinson (SJHS) was 1stin the junior girls 1500m and 2ndin the 3000m -Pascale Ouellette (ESA) won the senior girls triple Jump and finished 2ndin the long jump -Samantha McDonald (MVHS) won the senior girls High jump and long jump -Lynette Manuel (OHS) won the senior girls 3000m and also finished 2ndin the 1500m -Morgan Hawkes (FHS)won the senior girls 1500m while finishing 2ndin the 800m. -Sarah Myatt (FHS) was the first senior girl to cross the finish line in the 800m and also finished 2ndin the 400m -Nick McMackin (SJHS) was a triple winner in the junior division winning the 400m, 800m and 1500m. -Alex Guest (CNHS)won the junior boys 100m and 200m. -Alex Stuart (RHS) 1stin the senior boys 100m and 200m , also finished 2ndin the 400m Hurdles - Chris Robertson(BMHS) won the senior boys High jump and the discus. -Matt McNeil won the and 3000m in the senior boys division while also finishing 3rdin the 800m to finish a busy day. -Pascal Desjardin (ESN) won the junior boys long jump and also finished 2ndin the 100m. Other Saint John Track Notables: Erin Kelly was 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in the 400. Hailey Guzik was 2nd in the High Jump. Grace Annear was 1st in the 400 and 3rd in the 800. Liam Kettlewell was 1st in the 400 Hurdles. Alex Peabody was 2nd in the 100. Mathieu Doucet was 2nd in the 400 and 1st in the 400 Hurdles. Tom Butler was 1st in the 800. Mitch Quigg won the shot put!!

On Sunday, I am looking for water table volunteers. We meet at 9:30 at the water fountain at the Market Square Atrium. The commitment is very short (10:45 max) and you'll get to see Coach Coffin go for another flyer:) The race gives at least $1000 to the club in return!! Just message me if you think you can help out.
