Jun 26 2011 - NB Hershey Champs - Saint John
Over 380 youth from across New Brunswick competed in the June 26th Hershey Provincial Final at the Canada Games Stadium in Saint John. The meet organized by Athletics NB and the Saint John Track Club had record attendance and featured exciting races in all age groups. In total, 28 Greater Saint John athletes placed in the top six allowing them to advance to the Hershey Atlantic Final in July. Laura Duffley, Noah Johnson and Paul Tremblay each won two events at the meet. Saint John area athletes fared well with the following athletes getting first place finishes in their events. Saint John area athletes winning their events were: Laura Duffley – 1st place 50m & 100m (9-10 girls) Noah Johnson – 1st place 100m & 400m (11-12 boys) Paul Tremblay – 1st place 800m, Ball Throw (13-14 boys) Cole Healey – 1st place 200m (9-10 boys) Isaac Clark – 1st place 100m (13-14 boys) Anthony Cormier – 1st place 200m (13-14 boys) Sarah Kean – 1st place 800m (11-12 girls) Lynden Breen – 1st place 200m (9-10 boys) Mark Green – 1st place Ball Throw (9-10 boys) Nicole Soper – 1st place Standing Long Jump (11-12 girls) Brenna Kettlewell – 1st place Standing Long Jump (13-14 girls)
Hershey Officials for the North American Final will compare times for top finishers at Atlantics to the results from other Region 6 meets held in Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Newfoundland, Rhode Island and Vermont and select the top person for each event. They will select a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 25 youth from the Atlantic Provinces (9 - 14 years of age) to attend the North American final to be held in Hershey, Pennsylvania in early August. All expenses for the event are funded by the Hershey Chocolate Company. The Hershey program is designed to encourage physical fitness among youth and emphasize sportsmanship. It has become the largest youth sports program of its kind in North America with over 400,000 participants. Jun 25 2011 - NB Legion Champs - Moncton
Nearly 250 athletes from New Brunswick & Nova Scotia gathered for the N.B. Legion Track & Field Championships in Moncton this past weekend. Members of the Saint John Track club had a strong showing with 20 1st place finishes. Event winners were: Katie Robinson – (age 16-17) 1st 1500m Victoria Leblanc – (age 14-15) 1st Long Jump Rachelle MacDonald – (senior) 1st 100m, 200m & Long Jump Grace Annear – (age 18-19) 1st 800m & 1500m

The athletes from across New Brunswick competed in the full day event which was the first step in the selection process for the Royal Canadian Legion National Championships. Results from this meet and other selection meets will be reviewed in the coming month to select the final NB team for the 14-15 and 16-17 age groups. 36 athletes will be chosen to represent the province at this national meet, later this summer in Ottawa. The Royal Canadian Legion has supported this national track and field program for over 34 years. Full results are available at the link below.
Jun 13 2011 - Jeux Francophonie Canadienne 2011 Jun 12 2011 - Team NB ready for Sudbury Athletics New Brunswick and la Fédération des Jeunes Francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick is proud to announce the athletes who will represent New Brunswick in athletics at Jeux Francophonie Canadienne 2011. The Games will take place in Sudbury July 20 to 24. Congrats to the following SJTC athletes who have been selected to the team.
