Oyinko Akinola Appointed Coach & Technical Director Saint John Reds Track & Field

Saint John Reds Track & Field Club is pleased to announce the selection of Oyinko Akinola as its new Club Coach & Technical Director. He will be starting in the position in mid-September.

“On behalf of the SJ Reds Board of Directors and members, we are very pleased to welcome Oyinko (O for short) to our team,” states SJ Reds TFC President Bill MacMackin. “His appointment follows an extensive process by the Selection Committee. His experience and skills stood out immediately amongst the many high-quality applicants who applied.

Born in Nigeria, O moved to Canada, settling in Winnipeg in 2008. He is a University of Manitoba graduate in arts and has also been an active volunteer coach with the Winnipeg Optimists in their jumps, power speed and hurdles programs. O brings his experience and passion as a three-time U-Sports All-Canadian athlete, two-time U-Sports Silver Medalist in High Jump, and a U-Sports Silver Medalist in Triple Jump. He has worked with Athletics Manitoba’s board of Directors and as a summer staff organizing coaching clinics and delivering skill development clinics for kids ages 7-18.
